Description:

The construction of thepowerstation began in 1956 and electricity generation started in 1962 and ranfor 27 years to 1989. Berkeley was the first commercial nuclear power stationin the United Kingdom to be decommissioned following gits closure in1989.Structural works were required in preparation of the power stationdecommissioning process.

Project Design:

Kashec prepared structuralschemes for the proposed decommissioning of the power station. We carried outthe structural design of the weathertight protective roof. We prepared thestructural schemes for the demolition works required to reduce the height ofthe reactor buildings.
