Description:

Dungeness Bisan advancedgas-cooled reactor(AGR) power station consisting of two 1496 MW treactors,which began operation in 1983 and 1985 respectively. It was the firstcommercial scale AGR powerstation to be constructed. An assessment of the existingstructures was needed to comply with the Health and Safety requirements andallow for the life extension of the nuclear power station.

Project Design:

Kashec provided a structuralassessment of the existing structures for this scheme. We carried out structuraldesign checks of the 70 metre high dumbbell shaped building housing two nuclearreactors for the purpose of extending the life of the nuclear power station. Wealso carried out a structural assessment of various associated mechanical plantsuch as cranes and fuel handling gantries.
