Description 

This multi-million poundredevelopment programme at the RAF museum in Hendon coincided with the RoyalAirforce centenary in 2018.

The construction of the new two-storey steel framestructure took place around a “Sunder land Flying Boat” aeroplane that remainedin place throughout the project.

Project Design 

Kashec provided full structuraldesign services for this scheme. 

The existing mezzanine floor within theenvelope of the hangar was demolished. We carried out a structural assessmentof the existing foundations in order to re-use them in the new development. 

Weworked closely with a specialist timber subcontractor to develop a structuralsolution to suit the profile of the ceiling as designed by the Architect.
